I grew up in the 90's and got on the internet finally around 2000 - and by that I mean I begged my parents for internet access purely so that I could get on Neopets.
Neopets accounts came with a custom HTML page, so like many I started there, and then moved on to sites like angelfire and geocities where I made my own "Dolling" websites filled with custom pixel art dolls.
I often think about that time, of webrings and sister sites and sharing competitions and doll bases. I think the internet was a more fun place.
There is still so much creativity online! But we are all herded together for profit and blasted with advertisements. It doesn't have to be that way, right?
